Approximately 10.5 million tons of furniture are purchased annually just in the EU. A similar amount of furniture is discarded each year, with only 10% being recycled. As a small-scale company, we may not have a direct impact on the overall scale of the market, but by offering a sustainable and high-quality alternative, we create an opportunity for the demand side to choose it.
With the promotion of simple, durable, and timeless objects and deepening the user’s relationship with them, we can resonate with an increasing audience who will agree with what we believe in. The more people adopt this mindset, the more sustainable furniture will be produced, leading to reduced harmful emissions and waste. Such furniture will start to circulate in the second-hand market, being long-lasting, easily repairable, and not tied to passing trends.
Creating new objects to the already overproduced world are only justified if they offer a sustainable, high-quality alternative with timeless aesthetics, functionality and a low ecological footprint.
The life-cycle of each object is essential for us. We approach the designing and prototyping with focus on renewable, recyclable and durable materials. We always prefer the materials that are available or made locally and we work with local manufacturers. We keep the supplier chain as short as possible.

Circular economy is a model we agree with and implement in as many aspects as we can. We avoid using composite materials and prefer durable, sustainable ones. We pay close attention to the usage of the products  - we offer customer service regarding replacing parts, information on lengthening the lifespan and eventually the recycling.
Komok’s focus is not on handcrafted unique furniture, but on the proper usage of available technology and industrial methods combined with the knowledge of the manufacturers and designers. Manual work is an essential and joyful part of the product development process, however in the end we focus on computer-aided design and manufacture.

Our furniture is created based on the following criteria.
Sustainability and environmental consciousness: We minimize our environmental impact where we can. When selecting materials, we prioritize options that have less impact and avoid non-recyclable materials.

Durability and quality: Our goal is to produce furniture with a long lifespan and high-quality, reducing the need for frequent replacement or repairs. This approach reduces waste generation and resource consumption.

Flexibility and interchangeability: We design our furniture with interchangeable components so that if a part gets damaged, there's no need to replace the entire piece. This increases the product's lifespan and sustainability.
Flat-pack and easy assembly: We aim to deliver our furniture in a flat-pack form, reducing transportation costs and space requirements. The easy assembly helps customers to put together the furniture themselves.

Functionality and timeless design: Our designs meet customers' needs and evolving lifestyles. The timeless design and practical features enable long-term use and prevent them from becoming outdated.

Traceability and take-back program: Tracking sold products allows us to maintain their lifecycle, and if necessary, take them back to minimize waste.

Made-to-order or small inventory: We produce our items on-demand to avoid excess inventory, reducing energy waste and and the impact of large storage spaces.

Environmentally conscious partners: When selecting suppliers and partners, environmental consciousness is an important criterion. We collaborate with like-minded partners who share similar values.

Material-optimized design considerations: During the design process, we aim to use materials efficiently, minimizing waste and resource wastage.
